Mr. Derrick Bernard Jemerson unexpectedly departed from this life on May 7, 2017 at Dallas Regional Medical Center in Mesquite, Texas. Derrick and twin (Errick) were born on June 21, 1973 in Dallas, Texas to the parentage of the late Pastor S. H. Jemerson III and Bobbie Jean Finley Jemerson.
At an early age Derrick was baptized at Greater Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church in Dallas, Texas under the pastoral care of the late Reverend S. H. Jemerson III. He was later re-baptized at Singing Hills Church of Christ in Dallas, Texas under the leadership of the late Brother Richard Mathis.
Derrick received his formal education at Umphrey Lee Elementary School, D.A. Hulcy Middle School, Skyline High School and also David W. Carter High School all in Dallas, Texas. Derrick possessed many outstanding talents; such as football, singing, art and rapping. Although a quiet person, when needed, he was not afraid to speak his mind.
Derrick was affectionately known as “Lil’ Twin” and eventually just “Twin.” He was loved and admired by many people from all different walks of life. Derrick possessed a wonderful giving soul; he did not mind giving to others while he himself went without.
He was preceded in death by a Sister; Veda Jemerson, his Mother; Bobbie Jean Finley-Jemerson and Father Sam H. Jemerson III. Derrick leaves behind to cherish fond memories his life’s Partner; Lakesia Morgan, Step-son; Trayvon Brown (Déjà Morgan); a Step Grandchild; Ayden Brown, Sisters; Vonda Fletcher, Candis Jemerson, Lavita Jemerson and Kristal Jemerson, Brothers; Pastor Nyal Bell (Rhonda), His Twin - Erick Jemerson (Cher), Terence Jemerson, Marcus Jemerson (Sheneequah Gaither-Jemerson); last but definitely not least; Step-Mother, Brenda Jemerson who is was affectionately known Derrick as “Nanny”, whom through the years was more than just a stepmother to he and his siblings. Derrick also leaves behind a plethora of nieces, nephews, cousins, uncles, aunts, many friends and loved ones. Derrick may be gone from this life, but he will always be remembered forever in each of our hearts.
Services for Mr. Jemerson are as follows; Public Visitation, Friday, May 19, 2017 from 10 A.M. to 6:00 P.M. at Bethesda Memorial Funeral Directors Chapel of Remembrance.
