Eddie "ED" Bernard Wattley

The Omega Chapter Service for Mr. Eddie B. Wattley will start promptly at 3 PM on Saturday, January 30, 2016 and the Homegoing Celebration Services will follow. Both services will take place in the chapel of Bethesda Memorial Funeral Directors - 106 Terrace Drive - DeSoto, TX 75115.

Mr. Eddie "ED" Bernard Wattley on Monday morning; January 25, 2016 in Dallas, Texas quietly departed this life to dwell eternally with the Lord. ED; as he was affectionately called by those who knew him, was born in Dallas, TX on July 7, 1957 to the parentage of Edward, Sr. and Louise Faye Wattley.

ED grew up in Dallas where he attended Bishop Dunn High School where he received high recognition as an outstanding Bishop Dunn basketball player. Upon graduation in 1976, he accepted a scholarship to Washington State University, but eventually returned to Texas and enrolled at the University of Texas at Arlington. During spring of 1978, he pledged and became a member of Mu Beta Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. Ed also attended Wesleyan School of Law where he focused on Real Estate Law. ED was employed by the Small Business Administration (SBA) as a Real Estate Insurance Underwriter, until his health caused him to seek retirement.

ED was an active and financial member of the Omicron Gamma Gamma Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. Ed dearly loved his fraternity and considered Omega his immediate family. Ed loved traveling with his fraternity brothers. He loved basketball and attending games. Ed will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is preceded in death by his parents; Edward Sr. and & Louise Faye Wattley and by his only sibling; a sister, Ms. Doris Gillis.

When you’re up against a trouble, Meet it squarely, face to face; Lift your chin and set your shoulders, Plant your feet and take a brace. When it’s vain to try to dodge it, Do the best that you can do; you may fail, but you may conquer, See it through!

Black may be the clouds about you and your future may seem grim, But don’t let your nerve desert you; Keep yourself in fighting trim. If the worst is bound to happen, Spite of all that you can do, Running from it will not save you, See it through!

Even hope may seem but futile, when with troubles you’re beset, but remember you are facing just what other men have met.
You may fail, but fall still fighting; don’t give up, whate’er you do; Eyes front, Head high to the finish...See it through!
