Mr. John Al Cartwright was born on September 23, 1964, in Carthage, Texas to the parentage of John Dunkin & Eunice Turner-Cartwright. He attended Carthage Public Schools and later graduated from Carthage High School. For a brief period of time John lived in Boston, MA, but because of the love he had for his mother, he returned to Carthage. John attended trucking school and upon graduation he was employed for many years as an intrastate truck driver, until his health failed.
John was a loving and kindhearted man, he loved his family and had much compassion for people, even those he did not know. He was a good father and step-dad. John was dearly loved and admired by all of his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his father; John Dunkin and an older brother; Curtis Turner.
He leaves to cherish his memory; his son, Corey Al Cartwright of Houston, Texas; Daughters, Brandy Cartwright of Shreveport, LA and Atara Cartwright of Boston, MA; Two grand kids; Mother, Eunice Turner-Cartwright of Carthage, TX; Brother, Willie Cartwright (Chandra “Sue” Fountain); Sisters, Pauline Cartwright and Lisa Cartwright both of Longview, TX, Gloria Oliver of Glenn Heights, TX; a special friend, Estella Petty Tennison of Houston, TX; and a host of Nieces, Nephews, Cousins and a plethora of Friends. John will truly be missed by his family, friends and all who knew him.
Family & Friends visitation is scheduled from 6:00 to 7:00 P.M. - Friday, December 16, 2016 at Bethesda Memorial Funeral Directors with Homegoing services on Saturday, December 17, 2016, 11:00 A.M. at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church - 3053 State Hwy 315 -Carthage, Texas 75633 with Pastor Carl Yarbrough, Sr., Officiant and Evangelist Walter Jones, Eulogist. Interment will follow services, Holland Quarters Cemetery - Carthage, TX. Mr. Cartwright will lie in repose at the church one hour before Homegoing services.
