Johnny Page Obituary

Mr. Johnny Edmond Page, better known as John’O was born July 4, 1951 to the parentage of Daisy Mae Johnson and McCoy Watson. He was a proud resident of Jefferson, Texas. He accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age and his belief in God never wavered. Johnny attended Jefferson Public Schools and was a graduate of Central High School.

At Central, he was a star athlete where he quarterbacked Central High School to the Prairie View Interscholastic League (P.V.I.L) State Championship in 1969. He also excelled in basketball where he was an All-District player and MVP of the team.

After a short break he enrolled in East Texas State University where he was one of the most popular and best-known people on campus. He received the MACH III Award for having a 4.0 grade point average one semester. He was a proud member of The Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Incorporated, where he was one of its most loyal members. He held many positions in the organization.

Johnny earned a B.S. Degree in Physical Education with the goal of going home to coach his younger brothers in high school. Life took a different turn and he moved to Dallas, Texas instead. After several odd jobs, he began to work at Baker Shoes where he learned the craft of shoe salesmanship. He also sold shoes at Macy’s department store. He later met Larry Mattney who owned the Andre’ Bellini Shoe Store and went to work for him. Larry took him under his wing and taught him the shoe business. In October of 1995, he and Patricia Anderson opened Johnny-O’s Shoes, in Addison. Texas. He later became the sole owner and remained in business for 25 years until his health failed.

Johnny was a man about town and loved the night life. He was frequently seen enjoying the club scene sipping on his Bombay and orange juice. Johnny was well known and loved by all. His smile was his trademark.

He was preceded in death by his parents; Daisy Mae Johnson and McCoy Watson, brothers; Obee and Kenneth Page, and Deaster McCullough, a sister; Connie McCullough and special nieces; Tracy and Laticia McCullough.

Johnny leaves to cherish precious memories the love of his life, his son; Tristan Channing Page and his sons’ mother; Vicki Warren, his immediate family, sisters; Bessie McCown (Freddie) of Ft. Worth, Texas, Vida Douglas (Curley) of Dallas, Texas, brothers; Frank McCullough (Margie) and Vincent McCullough (Letty) both of El Paso, Texas, and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.

He also leaves to cherish wonderful memories his friend of 45 years; Ernest (Bubba) Taylor, along with a plethora of friends and members of the Theta Theta Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Incorporated and Omegas everywhere! He also leaves to cherish fond memories his sweetheart Patricia Smith who remained at his bed side throughout his hospitalization. Johnny also leaves to morn hundreds of friends, clients and business associates. He will truly be missed by all that knew and loved him.

Rest in Peace John’O. We will see you on the other side.
