It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Mrs. Juanita Fowler Evans-Woodward, age 79, of Dallas, Texas, a faithful member of the Church of Christ, and a proud graduate of Dallas' Lincoln High School. Services for Mrs. Woodward are posted.
Juanita Evans-Woodward, affectionately known as Pocket by her distinguished loved ones, embarked on her extraordinary life journey on August 13, 1945, born to the late Mitchell and Oler Crayton-Evans in the small town of Lovelady, Texas. With the grace and dignity, she carried throughout her 79 years, Juanita concluded her earthly journey on September 30, 2024, in Dallas, Texas, after a valiant battle with Leiomyosarcoma cancer.
Juanita's early years in Lovelady, Texas were rich with experiences that shaped her into the beacon of guidance she became for many. Her academic achievements were evident; she graduated with distinction from Lincoln High School in 1963, a testament to her dedication and intellect. Her quest for education took her to Prairie View A&M University, where she earned a degree in Business Management, paving the way for a future as bright as her smile.
Following her education, Juanita pursued a career marked by a 13-year tenure at AAFES exchange, demonstrating her innate leadership and business acumen. Yet, her heart guided her to a different vocation, one that combined her love for family and community. She assumed the role of a part-time visiting educator while also dedicating herself as a stay-at-home mother, embodying Juanita's core belief—family was everything, and nurturing her loved ones was her highest calling.
Juanita's life was a masterpiece of love and dedication, with each thread reflecting her passion for her roles. She spent 47 wonderful years with her late husband, Luther Woodward, Jr. She was also a loving mother of Stanley Gerald Woodward and Stephanie Reshena Woodward-Thomas. Her legacy continued to thrive through her adored granddaughter, Aubrey Renee' Thomas, who was among the brightest lights in her world.
1 Corinthians 15:50 - "I declare to you, brothers and sisters, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God, nor does the perishable inherit the imperishable." Therefore, as I conclude; even though Juanita is absent from her earthly body, she is present with the Lord.
