Lois Moody Obituary

The funeral service for Mrs. Lois D. Moody is scheduled for 2:00 pm on Saturday, January 19, 2013 at the Springfield Missionary Baptist Church - Rockdale, TX. Pastor S. L. Ross officiating.

Ms. Lois Linell Gibbs-Dykes-Moody was born on March 3, 1932 in Iola, TX to the parentage of Rev. Daniel Author Gibbs Sr. and Mrs. Viola Annie Turner Gibbs. Lois accepted the Lord and Savior at an early age. She was baptized at New Zion Baptist Church under the Rev. William Finnell. Lois met and married Vernell Dykes in 1962 and to this union no children were born. She united with the Springfield Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. S.L. Ross; she served faithfully, until her health failed her. In 1990 she met and married Mr. Novlin Moody. To this Union no children were born. Lois finished secondary school in Crockett, TX and afterwards completed Barber College. Lois was a Musician and loved music. She retired from Acott High School in Rockdale, Texas as a custodian. The Angel of Silence entered into her life on January 8, 2013 and called her home. Lois will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. She leaves to cherish her memory; one sister Mrs. Bobbie Jean Gibbs of Hearne, Texas. One Aunt, Mrs. Ruby Wallace, two step-sisters; Ms. Ruby Lee Scott and Ms. Edna J. Anderson. Extended family members; Mrs. Corine Harris, Ms. Trisha A. Jones, Mr. Daniel A. Gibbs, Jr., Ms. Alberta Gibbs and a host of nieces, great nieces, great-great nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. Lois was preceded in death by both her mother and father; Rev. Daniel Arthur Gibbs Sr. and Mrs. Viola Annie Turner-Gibbs, two brothers, seven sisters; also husbands Noland Moody and Vernall Dykes.
