Louise was one of seven children. As was common practice of that era, Louise left school after the seventh grade, in order to help on the family farm and assist in caring for her younger siblings, they had a very close and loving family bond.
She was hard working and a smart young woman who would later catch the eye of George W. Battle. They fell in love and were married on January 3, 1953. It was a loving marriage of 67 years. The caring couple shared their life and love with their children Louis “Butch” and Linda in West Medford, Ma where they lived for almost 60 years.
Louise lived a life of service to others. As a member of Union Baptist Church in Cambridge, MA she served with the Central Cambridge Club fundraising, educating, serving the church and local community. She also served as a deaconess for many years, and she was Chairwoman of the Deaconess Board under Reverend Melvin G. Brown. She was respected and truly loved by her peers.
She worked at Simmons Mattress and the Container Corp. After retirement, she could not sit. She worked as a homemaker for over ten years, often taking care of clients who were much older than she was. She was loved by her clients and co-workers. Louise lived a long and fruitful life. She will be missed by her family and friends. Besides her husband, parents, and siblings; George, Henry, Richard Hayes, Ada Wilson, David, and Douglas; Louise was predeceased by her granddaughter, Alexandria Loutrice Winbush.
Louise leaves us physically; however, her loving and caring spirit will be cherished and remembered by those she leaves behind: her son, Louis Battle (Catrina); daughter, Linda Battle;
