Mrs. Mamie Lee Eubanks Bell was born February 7, 1945 in Old Town, Arkansas to the late Matthew and Mamie Eubanks. She attended school in Helena, AR up to the 11th grade at Eliza Miller Senior High School; however, she graduated from East St Louis Senior High School in 1964 in East St. Louis, Illinois where she graduated as the class Valedictorian. Upon graduation she returned home to Helena, AR where she started her work journey as a substitute teacher and after numerous years of courtship, she married the love of her life Marvin Bell, Sr. They soon moved from Helena, AR to Milwaukee, WI where they started their family of four children (Marvin, Michael, Tara, and Tennille). Their lives and careers permitted them to move to various cities, and her next career journey with the IBM Corporation included her working in Milwaukee, WI, Lenexa KS, and Windsor, CT where she retired in 1992. Her husband's last career move to Dallas, TX allowed her to launch her new career opportunity with American Airlines, where she later retired in 2008. Mamie was raised and baptized at an early age at St. Peter Missionary Baptist Church in Helena, AR and in latter years she joined Antioch Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church where she was a faithful member working in the children's church, attending weekly bible study, and attending weekly Sunday school. She loved attending the early service so that she could fellowship and then returning home to enjoy time with her children and grandchildren. Mamie raised her children faithfully in the church while they were growing up and tried to instill Godly principles in them that would lead them on their own faithful journey with Christ. Faith and education were two priorities that she set and modeled for her family with an unwavering hand and spirit. Mamie was an artist. She loved painting, designing, and creating special artwork and crafts. She not only did the work herself, she taught night classes at Windsor High School in Windsor, CT to help others learn to paint. She also loved sewing and selling children's African attire through her business, Newbian Tots, and she loved seeing her daughters, granddaughters, and other family members adorned in the fashionable items she created, and just smiled as others complimented their style and beauty and her quality of work. Mamie's creativity extended into quilting, which became such a passion for her...and her work stood out amongst so many competitors. All you had to do was to let her start talking about quilting and you could see the joy all over her. She believed that quilting was a way to extend a special kind of love to her children and grandchildren as each of them have their own special quilt that's meaningful to them. She loved serving as a merchandise vendor at numerous conferences and events and sharing tips and tricks with others, although her children dreaded the hard work involved when she required them to support the business. Eventually, they understood the power of her creativity and the worth of her work and helped with all of the heavy lifting and setting up. One of her others joys in life was traveling. She and her loving husband, Marvin, of 42 years traveled the world together and enjoyed so many beautiful experiences that so many people only dream of. Some of their most memorable traveling occurred on the numerous family vacations that they shared with her brother, Matthew Jr's family, as they tried to expose their children to the world while also building such a strong family bond. Mamie and Matthew's loving bond as brother and sister was unwavering and extended so deeply and so lovingly until her death. Preceding her in death are her beloved husband, Marvin Bell, Sr. and son, Michael Bell, Jr. Mamie leaves to cherish her memories her children Marvin (Pam) of Richmond, VA; Tara Adeya, DeSoto, TX, and Tennille Bell-Gailes, Charlotte, NC;, nine (9) grandchildren: Chanon Bell, Elijah Bell-Clarke, Tierra Bell, Kierra Bell-Linnear, Sophia Bell-Clarke, Marcus Bell, Sydney Bell-Biggers, Princess Timmie Adeyah, and Adekemi Adeya; two (2) great grandchildren, Tylan Bell and Cairo Bah; one brother, Matthew Eubanks, Jr (Brenda "Sue"), DeSoto, TX; nephews Matthew Eubanks III. and Corey Eubanks; and niece Tameika Eubanks and a host of other great nieces/nephews, family members and friends. Final arrangements entrusted to the loving and compassionate care of Bethesda Memorial Funeral Directors & Crematory Services, LLC of DeSoto, TX.
