It is with Bethesda’s deepest and profound sorrow that we announce the passing of Police Sergeant (Ret) Michael Anthony McKinney, age 57 of Waxahachie, TX. A life so beautifully lived deserves to be most beautifully remembered. Services for Sgt. McKinney are posted.
Michael Anthony McKinney Sr. was born on September 27, 1965, in Shreveport, Louisiana to the parentage of Sherman and Bessie McKinney. He went on to graduate from Sunset High School in 1984. After graduation, he briefly attended Central Missouri University. On May 25, 1989, he married the love of his life LaShawn Evette Reagor. Together they raised three children: Denise, Kendrick, and Michael Jr. They were married for 28 years until LaShawn passed away in March of 2018. Michael went to join his wife in heaven on December 14, 2022.
Mike was a proud Police Sergeant for the Cedar Hill Independent School District, a police officer for Dallas ISD Police Department, and briefly, a Dallas County Deputy Constable for Dallas County Pct. #1. Between Dallas and Cedar Hill ISD Police Departments. Mike’s career as a law enforcement officer extended well over 25 years. Mike was highly respected in the community, and he received a plethora of awards for his dedicated exceptional service. He was a sought-after police officer, most all principals wanted Officer McKinney on their campus because
he was a one-man force. He could do the job that required several others to do. Mike kept all his campuses “Safe & Secure.” The students loved him, and he loved them.
He was preceded in death by his father; Sherman McKinney Sr., Mother; Bessie McKinney, two brothers; Joseph McKinney, and Sherman McKinney Jr. Mike leaves to cherish precious memories his three children; Michael Anthony McKinney Jr, Denise Reagor & Kendrick Reagor Sr, four grandchildren; Kendrick Jr., Alali, Lawson, and Ashton; his brother; Raymond Davenport Sr., two sisters; Doris Gambrell and Janie Battle, as well a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives that loved him dearly.
