Pamela Thompson Obituary

...Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord (Matt. 25:21)

After a courageous battle with a lengthy illness, Ms. Pamela Aleta Thompson quietly transitioned into eternity during the early morning of September 26, 2018, at her home in Dallas, Texas.

Pamela was born on June 8, 1959, in Dallas, Texas to the parentage of Mrs. Winnie Woods and the late Mr. Richard Wilson. She spent her formative years under the guidance of her late maternal grandparents Winnie and Sampie Thompson in Kerens, Texas and completed her primary education in Kerens. She later moved to Lancaster, Texas where she graduated from high school and chose cosmetology as her early vocation in which she excelled as a hair stylist with many devoted clients. She also held various administrative positions and later made a career change and began a profession as a dietary aide and certified nurse aide (CNA). With the skills acquired as a CNA she started providing home health care to many satisfied clients. She served in this capacity for many years until her health began to fail.

For 30 plus years Pamela was a faithful member of Deliverance Chapel Church of God In Christ where she worked with the benevolent ministries including operation of a clothes closet and food pantry and was instrumental in starting a program to feed the homeless. She loved serving in her church wherever she was needed, and she continued this life of service and faithful devotion until her health would not permit her to continue. Pamela was an avid gardener and loved working in her yard and growing plants. She had a “green thumb,” and she received an award for “garden of the month” for her beautiful, well-kept yard.

Pamela bore three children and is preceded in death by her father, maternal and paternal grandmothers and grandfathers, and two brothers. She is survived by her daughter Bridgett Thompson of Garland, Texas; two sons, Lonnie Thompson and Brandon Thompson of Dallas, Texas; mother Winnie Woods of Dallas, Texas; grandchildren – Demuntrea Carter of Dallas, Texas, Lathan Carter of Garland, Texas, and LayLonnie Thompson of Dallas, Texas; sisters, Patricia Whitfield of Dallas, Texas and Tangelon (Tangie) Wilkerson of Orlando, Florida, and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
