It is with utmost sorrow to announce the passing of Princess Patience Ariowa Obazee, age 71 of Glenn Heights, Texas. Services for Princess Patience Ariowa Obazee are posted.
Princess Patience Ariowa Obazee was the first daughter of Mr. Osatohamwen Obazee and Princess Edugie Uyiekpen born on May 17, 1952. Her father was Secretary to the ancient Benin Kingdom during the reigns of Oba Eweka N’ologbe and Oba Akenzua. On her mother’s side, Princess Patience Obazee was the 3rd generation of Oba Ovonramwen N’Ogbaisi and 5th generation of the union of Uvbi Evbakhavbokun and Chief Ologbosere of the Benin Kingdom.
In the late 1970s, Princess Patience Obazee was a top executive of Nigeria Airways. At Nigeria Airways, she was able to travel and also send several family members to many countries, including the United States, Italy, Israel, and others. Because of her giving and helpful nature, she was often called Mommy by many of her nieces and nephews, namely her niece Abi Obazee whom she later adopted as her own.
Princess Patience Obazee married Oscar Irabor with whom she had one son, Emmanuel Irabor in 1981 and one daughter, Paula Irabor in 1982. They later divorced after which she reunited with her high school sweetheart, the late Meshack Duru and had a son Brad Duru in 1993.
In the late 1980s she left Nigeria Airways and moved to the Unites States to reunite with family who were already there. She laid roots in Dallas, TX. This move birthed a new chapter of her life. In her fifties, she enrolled at Texas Technical College and earned an associate degree in nursing. A few years after earning her associate degree, in 2005, she began a new career as a nurse at Terrel State Hospital. She was employed at Terrel State Hospital for 14 years before retiring at the age of 67.
After retirement, she decided to move in with her eldest son and his family n Glenn Heights, Texas. This later move allowed her to spend quality time with her first grandson, Elijah Irabor.
Princess Patience Obazee is survived by her sons Emmanuel Erunse Irabor and Brad Osazee Duru, her daughter Paula Ehi Irabor, her grandson Elijah Osato Irabor whom she calls “My Prince”, and her brother Prince Sunny Ogieva Omo-Iyase. Please keep the Obazee family lifter in prayer.
