Roderick Green Obituary

On April 5, 2017, while in respite at the DeSoto Regional Hospital in Mansfield, LA; Mr. Roderick Lamar “Pretty Boy” Green, Age 39 of Mansfield, LA, quietly slipped away to be with the Lord.

Roderick was born in Shreveport, Louisiana on March 15, 1978 to the proud parentage of the late Charles Pea and Patsy Green-Gilyard. He completed his formal education in the Mansfield Public Schools, graduating from Mansfield High in May 1978.

Roderick accepted Christ at an early age and later on in life he rededicated himself to the Lord, under the Pastorship of Apostle Dr. Ronnie L Morns, Sr., where he always looked forward to assembling with members of Higher Ground Ministries.

Roderick was well known by many as “Pretty Boy or Chocolate. “ He was one who never met a stranger, got along well with others and was always the life and center attraction among his inner circle of friends and associates. He loved and enjoyed "meddling" with those he came across. Roderick truly enjoyed playing spades, dominoes and spending quality time with his family and friends. His favorite of favorite saying was “That’s Wutzsup”, and at the same time he would gesture by throwing up both hands. This was his icon.

Roderick was preceded in death by both Parents; Charles Pea and Patsy Green-Gilyard and by his Stepfather; Clarence “June Bug” Gilyard. He leaves to cherish precious memories; Three Sons, Roderick Green, Jr., Jamarlon Walker and Jordan Green of Mansfield, LA; Two Sisters, Sandra McMillon (Kermit), and Lakeisha Green both of Mansfield, Two Brothers; Aaron Green, Sr. (Latoya) and Michael Green (D’Angelo Taylor) both of Monroe, LA, Eight Nieces; Tyeshia Green, Fredreka Green, Alexis McIntyre, LaQuisha McIntyre, Kashana McIntyre, Kashalor McIntyre and Kadaisha Gray all of Mansfield, and Aeryn Green of Mesquite, Texas, Five Nephews; Christopher Green, Michael McIntyre, Jr. and JarDarius Green all of Mansfield, Dejasma Green of Nacogdoches, LA and Aaron Green, Jr. of Monroe, LA.

Roderick also leaves behind a plethora of Aunts, Uncles, Great Nephews & Nieces, Cousins, Friends and Neighbors. Roderick will truly be missed by all who knew and loved him. He will be especially missed by his Special Brother in Law (Kermit); both truly did love and respected each other.
