Samuel Serrato, Jr. Obituary

It is with utmost sorrow that we announce the passing of Mr. Samuel Garcia Serrato, age 44, of DeSoto, Texas, and was a US Navy Veteran. Services for Mr. Serrato are posted.

Samuel Garcia Serrato, Jr., known to all as Sam, brought an extraordinary amount of joy and laughter into the world during his 44 years. Born on August 4th, 1979, in Dallas, Texas, Sam had a knack for lighting up a room with his humor and infectious smile. He embarked on his final tour on May 26th, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and an impeccable knack for making life a little less serious.

Sam was the beloved son of Suzanne Serrato and Samuel Serrato Snr, a brother to Gerardo and Veronica, and a brother-in-law to Donald. He was a devoted father to his three sons; Samuel III, Charlie, and Rocko, and a loving partner to his common-law wife; Rosa Fonseca. His nieces; Jelina, Mariah, Bre'Ana, Angelena, his nephew Dj, along with his great-nephew; Edwin and great-nieces; Nikella and Rosaline, will continue to carry on his legacy of humor and heart.

In May 1997, after graduating From Bowie High School in Arlington, Texas, Sam proudly served his country in the Navy until 2001. His dedication to his work was evident when he became a journeyman electrician in 2006 and later when he earned a BS of Science in Occupational Safety & Health from Columbia Southern University in 2018. As a safety coordinator, Sam not only protected his colleagues but also infused every workday with his unique brand of comedy.

Sam's interests were as diverse and flavorful as the dishes he loved to devour. He was a connoisseur of good food and good times, and he had an unparalleled talent for making people laugh until their sides ached. He was the unofficial family comedian, always ready to pick on the kids and engage in playful battles that would end in fits of giggles and mock surrender.

Described by those who knew him best as loving, funny, and intelligent, Sam had the ability to turn ordinary moments into memories that would be cherished forever. He was a man who knew that life was better when you were laughing, and he lived by the wise words of the great Robin Williams: "You're only given a little spark of madness. You mustn't lose it."

Sam's spark of madness was a gift to all who knew him. He never missed a chance to share a joke, offer a witty remark, or lighten the mood with his quick wit. His laughter was a beacon of light, guiding us through life's ups and downs, and his memory will continue to inspire joy in our hearts.

As we bid farewell to Sam, we won't say goodbye; instead, we'll say, "See you later," because the echoes of his laughter and the impact of his love will be with us always. Sam may have left the stage, but his punchlines will resonate forever. Here's to Samuel Garcia Serrato, Jr., a man who truly knew how to electrify life with humor and heart.

Please keep the Garcia Serrato family lifted in prayer.
