Mr. Vandy Augustus Murphy Jr. was born May 26, 1948 to the late Vandy Augustus Murphy Sr. and Lula Eunice Murphy in Cameron, Texas. Vandy, graduated from O.J. Thomas High School in 1967.

He worked as a Phlebotomist for 25 years before retiring. He attended Ranger Junior College. He united in marriage to Ruby Porter and to this union one child born.

Vandy was a devoted and active member of Holy Cross Catholic Church and served on the Usher Team and served as the Warden for the Knights of Columbus, Council 7017.

Vandy has a zest for life. His personality filled with passion and vibrancy. Those who were close to Vandy were touched by his loving spirit and thoughtfulness. Knowing Vandy help you understand that it is the quality of one’s existence that far exceeds the quantity of time lived. His loving smile brought so much joy to everyone. His loving kindness reminded us the preciousness of life. Vandy’s memorable life will forever live on in the hearts of his loved ones.

Vandy entered eternal rest on August 27, 2020. He is preceded in death by his Father: Vandy A. Murphy, Sr., Two Sisters; Eunice Vanette Murphy and Patsy Ruth Murphy, Two Nephews Byron D. Norton and Ira O. Murphy.

He leaves to cherish his memory: a Son Vandy Augustus Murphy III of Pomona, California, Mother; Lula Eunice Murphy, One Sister, Vicky Murphy Norton, Nieces; Lisa Norton Hall (Nickolos) of Dallas, Texas, Harvey, Denitra, Georgia, Bessie, Angela and Hazel Monique, all of Houston, Texas and Nephews; Jeffery and Robert, both of Houston, Texas, Great Nephews and Niece; Jyron, Nickolos and Lauryn all of Dallas, Texas; and a plethora of other relatives and friends.
