Willie Roberts Obituary

It is with deep regret and profound sorrow that we announce the passing of Mrs. Willie Lois Roberts, age 91 of Longview, Texas.  However; even in her passing from earth to glory,

We give praises unto Heaven as another soldier of our Lord has been called home.  Mrs. Willie Lois Roberts departed this earthly place on Tuesday, May 4th, 2021.  Willie, affectionally known as Lois was born in April 21, 1930 in Kilgore (Rusk County), TX to the proud parentage of Billie & Almetta Stoker.  She was the 8th out of Eleven Children, she was 91 years old & she considered herself Blessed & very thankful for God allowing her to live for so long, being the last living sibling.

Lois grew up in Rusk County, Kilgore Tx, just your average country girl.  She attended Bishop College in Marshall, TX. While attending Bishop College in Marshall, Lois met a young man named Jesse Roberts, who was driving a Taxi. The young man said to her, “can a man of my completion walk in your direction.”  This was the beginning of a lifelong relationship. In 1950 they married and remained married for well over 70 years.

Lois later enrolled in Kilgore College where she earned an associate degree in Early Childhood Development.  While earning her degree, she obtained employment at the Early Child Development Center of Longview Tx.

Lois accepted Christ & put Him on in Baptism at an early age at the Corinth Church of Christ, now the New Hope Church of Christ.  She was extraordinarily strong in the faith; in fact, it was her Faith that caused her Husband Jesse to obey the Gospel and become a member of the church.

Lois was everybody’s favorite Aunt, she had a nurturing soul & spirit, she loved everyone like they were her very own.  She passionately believed that a family that prays together stays together.  Although she was not perfect, she was a true testament of God’s Grace.

She was a beautiful sharp dresser, she loved her family, although firm & stern, she would always tell you, to read and study your bible. Lois attended the Southside Church of Christ in Marshall, TX for well over 60 years.  She really enjoyed fellowshipping with the members especially Brother Gilliam (her former minister) and the Gilliam Family, she later also adopted the current minster (Bro. Knight), also as one of her sons. Oh, how Lois loved attending Church homecomings & Revivals.  Most importantly she Loved God, will be missed by all who knew Her.

Lois was preceded in death by her Parents; Billie & Almetta Stoker, Husband; Jesse Roberts, Sisters; Cleo Rossum, Ferdelia Coleman, Bernice Irving, Ruby Lee Johnson, Bernice (Bunny) Williams, and Delma Tinsley, Brothers; Sylvester Stoker, Albert Stoker, Earl Stoker, and Billie Stoker, Jr., Grandson; Danny Rashad Booth.

She leaves to cherish precious memories, Son; Danny Booth (Jean), Grandson; Michael Griffin (Deidri), Granddaughter; Denise Kimble (Rodney), along with a plethora of Nieces, Nephews, Great-Grandchildren, Adopted Children, Other Relatives and Friends Lois will truly be missed by all who knew her.
