On behalf of the Owner, Management and Staff of Bethesda Memorial Funeral Directors,  it is with deep regret and profound sorrow that we announce the passing of Mr. Finis Jordan, age 73, a US Army veteran of DeSoto, Texas.

MR. FINIS KENNETH JORDAN, SR., affectionately known simply as “BUTCH”, was born to the parentage of Mr. Arthur Lorenzo Jordan and Mrs. Barnell Elizabeth (Smith) Jordan at their home on the west side of Dallas, Texas, on the 11th day of August, 1948. 

His family were faithful members of the West Mount Horeb Baptist Church which was and still is located about a hundred or so yards from their old family home. 
Finis was baptized at an early age, blessed under the Christian guidance of the then Pastor/Founder Malbray Mitchum. He was the first of two children born at their home, Alvin Earl, his younger brother were the second children born.
Finis attended school in the West Dallas area: George Washington Carver Elementary School, Sequoyah Junior High School and L. G. Pinkston High School of which he graduated (one year earlier than he was supposed to, 1966), which was in the second year of the school’s existence.
In 1966, Finis was drafted into the United States Army, which was the same year of his high school graduation. He reported to Fort Polk, Louisiana for “Boot Camp” training. After another scheduled training route, he was sent to Germany and was stationed there for approximately two years, during the Vietnam War, and he was honorably discharged in 1970. Returning home, he met Jewel Andrews and they were married on the 11th day of June, 1979. To this union, were born two sons, Finis, Jr., and Francis Keith Jordan.Finis, Sr., was employed by Southwestern Bell/AT&T. He retired from his workplace after 30 years of service.
Finis was an avid lover of nature and the outdoors, and he also loved the art of photography. Though he was a very private person, he still maintained a loving family relationship and had many friends. He is thought of as one of the founding members of the “NOVA” Automobile Club.
Finis was preceded in death by both parents and sisters; Patricia Inez Jordan, and Barbara Christine Jordan.  He leaves to cherish precious memories, his wife of 43 years; Jewel Jordan, sons; Finis, Jr., and Francis Keith Jordan, his sisters; Linda Travis Bates (Leonard), Wanda Travis Richards (Willie), Deborah D. Jordan, Kimberly K. Jordan, and Gwendolyn High, His brothers; Samuel Arthur Jordan (Sue), The Reverend Alvin E. Jordan, Sr. (Carolyn), Terrence Lee Jordan (Trina), Dwight Lynn Thomas, Sr., (Beverly), Walter Earl Travis, Jr. (Annette), Clifford High, and a plethora of beloved cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great nephews, and friends.
